Illinois Football Lands Former Four-Star DB

Illinois Football has landed the commitment of Terrance Brooks. Brooks is a former four-star defensive back who played two seasons for the Texas Longhorns. Terrance was a top-100 overall prospect coming out of high school and fills one of the biggest positions of need on the Illinois Football roster. This past season, Brooks started 13 games for the Longhorns and totaled 3 interceptions and 6 pass deflections. This was a big boy recruitment as Brooks had plans to visit USC and Michigan, however, the clear need at DB was likely what sold Illinois Football to Terrance Brooks.

Additionally, Illinois has a litany of defensive backs in the NFL. Devon Witherspoon, Quan Martin, Sydney Brown, Nate Hobbs, and more are all former Illini who are playing for NFL teams.

More Work to do.

Illinois Football will continue to be active in the transfer portal. Per reports by Jeremy Werner and IlliniInquirer.com, Bret Bielema and his staff are actively hunting for a primary wide receiver and depth on the defensive line. Terrance Brooks is a huge first add, as he brings legitimate big-time football experience to a position that Illinois really needs help at.

Though the roster has some holes, this is a massive year for Bret Bielema and the Fighting Illini. They desperately need to make a bowl game this year to preserve hope and momentum in this program.
